Already starting the planting for the spring garden. \u00a0 Isn’t that just amazing?!<\/p>\n

Before we started gardening, I had no idea how far in advance someone is needing to plant seeds before the veggies are ready to eat. \u00a0 Most of them take 2 to 3 months (60 – 90 days) \u00a0to grow to mature stages. \u00a0 Some much longer.<\/p>\n

So if we are going to harvest greens and winter veggies in March, they need to start growing now. \u00a0In the greenhouse mostly, of course.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_20141217_130840893\"<\/a>This week, we started more kohlrabi, kale, broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, head lettuces, celery, corn salad and even some early tomatoes (for greenhouse production.) \u00a0 \u00a0They’ll be ready to plant in the garden (probably under row cover) sometime in January.<\/p>\n

Soon after Christmas, we’ll be headed into full production with cool-weather veggies and herbs planted first. \u00a0 By the end of January we will have started most of our early seedlings.<\/p>\n

If you \u00a0have any recommendations or favorite veggies you’d like to see us try, I hope you’ll let us know. \u00a0Now is the time. \u00a0 We love trying new things, you know!<\/p>\n

Had I mentioned lately how much I enjoy my time in the garden? \u00a0I’m so very grateful for the privilege of playing in the dirt every day! \u00a0And it would never have happened without your support and encouragement. \u00a0Thank you!<\/p>\n

We’re actually taking some time for the next couple of weeks to enjoy family, so I won’t be going for coffee on Tuesday morning. \u00a0 I’ll see you at the Athens Organic Supply coffee shop again on Tuesday, January 6.<\/p>\n
