Sunflowers have a lot of things to do in a garden. \u00a0They draw bees and good insects to pollinate the crops, they can be a trap crop for some of the pests, and if they’re big enough, they even help shade the kale and beans from the extra-hot afternoon sun.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The mammoth sunflowers get to be 8 or more feet tall, with flowers well over a foot across. \u00a0And each flower head will be home to thousands of big sunflower seeds – just right for salting and roasting.<\/p>\n

If that doesn’t tickle your tastebuds, maybe the melons or tomatoes will. \u00a0The cantaloupe are super sweet this summer.<\/p>\n

We’ll have lots of burgundy okra, purple pod beans, Red Rippers, squashes, potatoes, onions and all the rest of our standard fare.<\/p>\n
