Bee Notes

In 2017 we added several more hives to the state registered apiary at Gopher Knoll.   Going into the new year, we have eight hives.  The hives made their first year in good shape.  We learned a lot – starting the year with the beekeeping classes taught by the Cole family in Malakoff and then joining the new Henderson County Beekeepers Association for monthly meetings.

Much of the acreage has been planted in clover and various wildflowers to keep a honey flow going for as much of the year as we can.    We will be following the same philosophy with our bee keeping as we do with our garden –  using the best natural techniques we can find to keep healthy bees and bring only the finest, local honey to our customers.

The bees are permanently sited here in Athens, TX.
