The market is up!

No, not the Dow Jones averages – the Athens Farmer’s Market!   So many great veggies to enjoy!

New this week – the white eggplant is ready.   And aren’t the blooms beautiful, too?

We also have the first pick of the summer watermelons – as always, just a few to start with.  Crimson Sweet, Sugar Baby and Charleston Grey.  On ice, just to celebrate the occasion.

More heirloom tomatoes – the Reisentraube and Sweet Beverly cherry tomatoes are here, along with our big beefsteak tomatoes: the Cherokee Purple and Black Krim. Lots of beautiful squash, and a great recipe to share.   All the standards will be back too – including lots of beautiful kale and burgundy okra.  Lemon cukes, onions, fingerling potatoes, sweet corn, carrots, yukon gold and red potatoes, green and purple snap beans, yellow soleil french beans  and the new Red Ripper southern peas.

Oh, and for the first time: fresh herbs – Sweet basil and Thai basil.
